Teaching and Learning
‘Ensuring every teacher is supported in delivering high-quality teaching is essential to achieving the best outcomes for all pupils, particularly the most disadvantaged among them’ (EEF).
Significant professional development time is committed to the delivery of high-quality teaching. Subject leaders are empowered to deliver staff meetings, demonstrating how their colleagues can teach their subjects effectively and in a way that aligns with our whole school curriculum.
In addition to this, ‘Walkthrus’ are used as a framework for staff to develop their teaching practice. Senior leaders will monitor provision across school to identify a ‘cluster’ of strategies to be focused on. All members of staff are then expected to choose a ‘Walkthru’ strategy from this cluster as a professional development goal that they will practice and embed into everyday teaching. Below are the previous and current clusters of strategies.
Team meetings and staff meeting time is reserved for teachers to practice and coach each other, unpicking each strategy in fine detail until it has been mastered and used effectively to impact on student outcomes.
