Language Support
Language support is given to those children who have arrived at our school with little or no English. The children start to use social language very quickly (so try not to worry too much parents). Although some of the children have no English at all when entering the school we aim to identify and build on children's existing knowledge and continually assess understanding on a regular basis. Support is planned and provided using fun and engaging activities.
We encourage speech in any language, we scaffold lessons to make them as accessible as possible. Visuals, gestures, drama and demonstration are just some of the ways in which your child will be taught.
We value our pupils culture, language and experiences, we know we can learn from them too.
Our language of the term is Portuguese so please ask your children questions about this language.
Our Chinese lunch, the children love tasting food from around the world!
