On behalf of Djanogly Northgate Academy’s Governing Body, I would like say welcome to our new children and parents and welcome back, for another year, to all our returning children and parents.
For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Gayle Aughton and I am very proud to be the Chair of Governors here at Djanogly Northgate and Djanogly Sherwood Rise.
I have lived in New Basford for over 20 years raising my family. During the day I work full time for the Local Authority. I believe that it is the fundamental right of all children to receive an outstanding quality of education. As Chair of Governors I am committed to working with staff, children and parents to achieve this goal.

My name is Mark Vickerstaff. At the beginning of November I joined Djanogly Northgate Academy’s Governing Body as a Staff Governor.
Prior to teaching, I was the Regional Director for an environmental charity in Birmingham. Then I became a teacher and have taught in Shanghai, China for 5 years and in Brisbane, Australia for 2 years.
I am currently a Year 1 Class teacher. I am also the Health and Safety Governor for Djanogly Northgate.
Outside of school – I am married with two daughters -7 years and 6 months. I enjoy sport and would love to spend more time on the golf course. I am an avid follower of Nottingham Forest.
Why I wanted to be a governor – I wanted to make a difference to the children of Northgate. These children are our country’s future. I want to give them the best opportunities in life to ensure they are ready for the challenges ahead.
