Welcome to our class where you will find Miss Cole and Miss Ganly (Language Support).
'Pupils who speak English as an additional language and those joining the school during the year also make good progress because there are good systems to support them by finding out their needs quickly and providing extra help'
Language support is given to those children who have arrived at our school with little or no English. The children start to use social language very quickly (so try not to worry too much parents). Although some of the children have no English at all when entering the school we aim to identify and build on children's existing knowledge and continually assess understanding on a regular basis. Support is planned and provided using fun and engaging activities.
We encourage speech in any language, we scaffold lessons to make them as accessible as possible. Visuals, gestures, drama and demonstration are just some of the ways in which your child will be taught.
We value our pupils culture, language and experiences, we know we can learn from them too.
Our language of the term is Punjabi so please ask your children questions about this language.
