Spring Term 1 in Year 2

We hope that you all had a restful Christmas and New Year. This term is extremely busy with lots of exciting activities happening. We have already sent home the newsletter and homework menu for this term. Please have a look at all of the upcoming dates for your diary as well as supporting your child to complete some of the homework activities.

 In English we are learning through the

theme of 'Pirates'. We will be reading stories such as 'The Night Pirates' about a boy called Tom who joins a band of brave pirate girls, and 'A new home for pirates' as well as 'Captain Flinn and the Pirate Dinosaurs' to name but a few. The children will be learning to use the present and past tense in their writing, writing statements, questions, exclamations and commands as well as describing characters and settings.

Our topic theme is 'Superheroes'. We will be studying some great female super heroes from last century, Florence Nightingale and Rosa Parks. We will also be completing an art project which involves using clay to create a model to reflect our 5R's. In science we will be learning through the theme of 'Welcome to Wonderland'. We will be learning about plants and animals in the local environment. We will be out and about around school looking at the plants that we can find.

This year P.E takes place on WEDNESDAY. Please make sure that you have your kit with you on this day.

We will be continue to send home the Homework Menu this term. There will be lots of different activities to complete ranging from art based drawings to maths challenges. We look forward to seeing the work that you produce. 

EXTRA- CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

This term Year 2 children can take part in Basketball club on Tuesday. There are still spaces available if you would like your child to take part.

We are looking forward to a very busy and exciting term.
